Angetrieben vom kraftvollen Sound einer One-Woman Band nehmen vier Tänzer*innen das Publikum mit auf eine Reise durch verschiedene Zustände von Spiel. Entlang der Achse zwischen Ordnung und Chaos befragen sie Vorstellungen von Kontrolle, Macht und Risiko und suchen die Unmittelbarkeit des intimen und potenziell gefährlichen Körpers. Mit Echtzeit Komposition verbindet die neueste Arbeit von Mirjam Gurtner Tanz, bildende Kunst und Musik zu einer interdisziplinären Performance. Wie viel Struktur und wieviel Freiheit braucht eine Gesellschaft und kann im Spiel Zusammenleben neu gedacht werden.

sit stand lie / push pull stroke (PLAY I)
How can we experience touch without touching? Which encounter do we allow in a time of physical limitation? sit stand lie / push pull stroke (PLAY I) is a series of objects and site-specific dance performance. Developed by artist Lisa Premke and choreographer Mirjam Gurtner for the Kesselhaus of the KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art, it marks the starting point of their two-year research on different states of play and their influence on our behaviour. The protective measures introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic, in constant flux and renegotiated, limit and open up the physical and spatial possibilities of play for the bodies, objects and their relationship to the audience. Can regulation be transformed into a game? The flood of digital information is countered by the immediacy of the real, vulnerable and potentially dangerous body. Dance, sound and objects are connected through real-time composition and the play with sensation to create a performance installation that seeks the proximity of the audience and the singularity of the moment.

Die mehrstündige Performance Installation inszeniert den Körper als bewegte Figur zwischen Skulptur und Tanz, Objekt und Subjekt. Inmitten der aktuellen Sammlungen hinterfragen die Tänzer*innen unsere Wahrnehmung von Vertrautem und Unbekanntem, Eigenem und Fremdem. Sinnesempfindung und Improvisation bestimmen die Komposition ihrer Körper in grosser Nähe zum Publikum und laden zu einer unmittelbaren Begegnung ein.
Während fünf Wochen haben Tanzinteressierte aus der Region, darunter geflüchtete Teilnehmer*innen und professionelle Tänzer*innen unter der Leitung der Choreografin Mirjam Gurtner eine zeitgenössische Tanz Performance erarbeitet. Dabei wurde keine fertige Choreografie unterrichtet, sondern eine gemeinsame künstlerische Sprache entwickelt.

SKINNED
In SKINNED the dancers surrender to losing safety. They search for the potential that lies within this moment and the chance to get to know ourselves differently. Playing with the desire for control, they explore exposure as a creative act. How much are we ready to reveal?
Sensory perception and improvisation define the composition of the dancers’ bodies in close proximity to the public, challenging our notions of risk and intimacy. The raw sounds of their movement, touch and breath are recorded live and woven into the fabric of the piece, creating an immersive experience for the audience.
In her artistic research Mirjam Gurtner looks at structured improvisation, instant composition and the interplay between sensation and physicality. Movement is not fixed but defined in each moment. Shifting between intuition and composition, the dancers cannot hide behind set choreography, rather are revealed as humans. Her work searches for the personal in order to point towards what is shared. In collaboration with sound artists she examines the relation between the moving body, its live sound and the audience.
